報告內容:
Stabilities in dissipative thermoelastic systems are of significant importance in a wide range of scientific and industrial applications. Frictionally sliding systems such as automotive brakes, clutches, seals , bearings, MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) and NEMS (nanoelectromechanical systems) resonant sensors often involve thermoelastic instability, which is induced by the interaction between thermoelastic deformation and frictional heat generation. The thermal-mechanical feedback can lead eventually to the localization of temperature in a small region of the contact area known as hot spots and energy loss known as thermoelastic damping. Despite the differences in the size scales and the applications involved, their fundamental mechanisms share remarkable similarities. The current research targets a unified theory for stability analyses in multiscalethermoelastic systems, and the outcomes of this research will allow early predictions on the phenomena.
